Paul Willis, Luke Ryan and Andrew Newton from THQ recently travelled the long haul all the way from Perth to Exmouth located in W.A's North West. The boys went up to compete in the annual GAMEX fishing competion and also competed in the AIBT tournament. They managed to secure a few days fishing in prior and after the two tournaments that they fished with some outstanding captures had. They spent a few hours on a number of days targeting Giant Trevally around some of the great islands exmouth has to offer. The fishing was great for the days the boys went out with good hits and hookups of GT up to 30kg. With lots of swell pumping into the reefs to stur the fish up the GT were on the bite, Paul managed to pull a great fish from a mere two meters of water on a Hammerhead Cherry Pai 200 which completely engulfed his lure, it was a hard fight in shallow water with a number of close calls. After releasing the fish to fight another day Paul contiuned to work the area where he got hit first, it wasn't long until another fish of around 23-25kg came up and bit his lure. This fish was taken from the same ground yet looked completely different to is counterpart.

The Small amount of GT fishing that was had resulted in some stunning fish being landed, not to mention the amount of good quality fish that were busted us off!
Luke put on a Fullscale lure he had been testing throughout the trip and first cast into the reef resulted in a fish of around 30kg come charging out only to engulf the lure and bust him off in a matter of seconds.
Luke however did manage to land a nice fish after hunting hard!

Steve Hart from THQ had a day spare on his way to the monte bello's and came out with the boys for a day of casting lures around and reef and landed a great fish close to 30kg
Steve was lucky to land the fish after one of the trebles pulled half way through the fight.

A small fish of around 13kg on a D Cup hammerhead

The gulf was fishing really good for the two day's we managed to get in there. Lots of brassy trevally and some big goldens were caught flicking plastics around on light jigheads. Coral trout and cods were also very plentiful.

Good size brassy trevs are everywhere at the moment with huge numberes schooling up around the boat on a number of different spots.

We caught up with a good customer Mick who lives in Exmouth and took him out for a day in the gulf, Mick had a great time and managed to put this cracker golden on the deck after a few nervous moments.

Small Bluebone are plentiful in the gulf at the moment

Pauls weird capture was this Blue Barstard(Morwong) caught on a light Jig.

We managed to get out west of the Murions and do some light jigging for some bottom fish and turned up some nice fish, the sharks didn't seem to be as bad as previous years, however we were only fishing shallow water 15mt-35mts.

Big Corinations were around in force!

Rankin's were loving mcarthy paddle tails

There was plenty of Big longtail tuna getting around the top of the Gulf

Big queenfish were common around the islands
