Tyrone Yahiya, Quinten Fisher and Luke Ryan from THQ recently just returned from Exmouth after a few weeks fishing between April and May. A big percentage of the trip was aimed towards light jigging in shallow water for big coral trout, rankin cod and the likes. The boys also concentrated their efforts on light tackle casting in shallow water with soft plastics and stockbait lures aswell. The water conditions had improved with the average water temp dropping from 29.5 in March to 27.6 now which has improved the fishing vastly. The gulf was slightly dirty but there was still a few queenfish hanging around in the shallows looking for an easy feed. The light jigging was going off for whilst the boys were up there with plenty of reefies coming over the side, there was an abundance of baitfish hanging around the shallow 20-30m water which seemed to boost the shallow water fishing action. One little tip when light jigging for reefies it to try and jig the "slack" period of the tide when the tide swings, all of the big trout and rankins almost instantly came on the bite as soon at the "slack" turned.
Qunny's nice GT that took his Cherry Pai 2 meters from the boat, this fish went 18kgs

Bluebone in shallow water on soft plastics is great fun, this bluebone went 6kg

This Coral Trout measured 82cm

This was the biggest trout for the trip at 83cm and 8.5kg on a lamble bait jig

This was a sounding of Coral Trout and Rakin Cod

The end result of one jig over the spot.

Casting soft plastics for big queenfish in less than a meter of water.

Hammer Head Moet 120F doing the damage on queenfish

Quinny had one of the first of the new daiwa 2012 Exist's in W.A for the trip and gave it a good workout, plenty of goldens and queenfish came up on this reel without fail.

Tyrone managed to secure this trout after getting buried a few times.

Lamble Bait jigs killed the trout and rankin, fish just can't resist the jigs!!

This Rankin weighed 7kg and put up a ripper fight on the light Saltiga 62S rod

We caught up with a good customer who lives in Exmouth by the name of Mick, we took him out jigging for the first time and he managed to land this great chinaman

A freindly whale shark that we spotted on sunset, hanging around the same area was another 20-25 whale sharks in a feeding frenzy scooping krill from just under the surface.
